Grattan Gill
On Thursday, April 22 at 7 PM, in collaboration with and following the 5:30 PM Apalachicola Community Garden Celebration, the Apalachicola Museum of Art at 96 Fifth Street, will welcome Grattan Gill, professor emeritus of architecture at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.
A frequent visitor to the Apalachicola area, which he has enjoyed photographing, he has assembled a slide show titled "RIGHT Around the Corner I", depicting the built and natural environment of Apalachicola. It will be complemented by "WRIGHT Around the Corner II", a slide show of Frank Lloyd Wright's work from the 1940's to the time of his death. Mr Gill is a highly regarded Wright Scholar and has lectured around the country.
In May 2009 Mr. Gill received an honorary doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth for his collaboration with Paul Rudolph in the design and building of that campus.
The community is invited to the Museum to meet this engaging speaker and see "Our Town" through someone else's eyes on Thursday, April 22 at 7PM.
